Buried
deep in a piece of land full of history, it is the
youngest golf course in the province. Four centuries
ago, Potrerillo de Larreta's lands belonged to the
imposing Jesuit estancia of Alta Gracia, declared
Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Nowadays, and on
the owners' own initiative, the place boasts a first
level 18-hole golf course, build within metres of
the gorgeous colonial-style main house. Located
30 kilometres from the capital city of Córdoba,
almost reaching the town of Alta Gracia, the main
features of this par 72 golf course, are several
streams crossing holes 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8; a unique
property for a golf course that preserves its natural
surroundings. Besides, it has four different set
of tees per hole, and in some of them there are
even five, providing a significant advantage for
those players with a high handicap and for the ladies
as well.
Both the beauty of the countryside and the mildness
of the climate turn the game of golf into a real
pleasure. The Jesuits that preached in these lands
had been wise at the time of choosing. These lands
also belonged to the viceroy Santiago Liniers and,
in 1918, they were bought by the writer Enrique
Larreta. In 1999, the family that owns it decided
to complete the tourist offer (the main house works
as a small hotel and the place is ideal for adventure
tourism) with a golf course that is worth visiting.
