Punilla
Valley is bounded on the east by hills (the Sierras
Chicas, where the Cerro Uritorco, 1,979
metres above sea level, and the Pan de Azucar, 1,250
m. above sea level, stand out) and on the west also
by hills (the Sierras Grandes, with the Los
Gigantes massif, 2,374 m. above sea level and
the high pampas of San Luis and Olaen).
The region boasts very interesting and attractive
sites: "Los Terrones", a formation
made of weirdly eroded red fine sands; "La
Quebrada" and "El Mirador Cuchi
Corral", a privileged spot for hang gliding
and paragliding near La Cumbre and "La
Quebrada de Vaquerías", a natural
hilly woodland reserve in Valle Hermoso.
